Here are several activities you can participate in to honor Black History Month. You earn a point for each activity (up to 4) which will count towards a raffle with a reward (1 per person). You can submit your typed answers to the following form: https://forms.gle/XBqRjE8E3LRZ33om8

Watch a video to learn about the art of stepping! Then answer the following question: "Which parts of the body are responsible for producing sound when stepping?"

This event is a Black History Month tribute celebrating who students are, where they come from and what they stand for through poetry and spoken word. Utilizing the prompt, “What does Black History Mean to You?” Students have the opportunity to voice their stories and experiences. Porsha Olayiwola will be speaking and provide a platform for students to embrace this. Contact caw1688@truman.edu if interested in performing spoken word at this event. The Hate U Give

In collaboration with Phi Beta Sigma and the Queers of Color Collective, SAB will host a showing of the film “The Hate U Give”. Following the film, there will be a panel of members from Truman’s Inclusive Excellence Committee to lead students in discussion.

Watch a film that relates to Black History and write a 100-word critique.

Feel free to chose one of the suggested films or select a different film that addresses being Black in America. Here are some suggestions:

  • The Hate You Give, which will be shown on Friday 19th at 7 pm by the SAB.
